Hey mainstream media! We are....
Submissions are trickling in. Here are a few that made me smile especially large. You can see all submissions here. If you are new to the blog, you can go here for a full description of the project.
Planning on writing something later, but figured that I'd get these up to give everyone a midmorning smile.

ReplyDeleteI love this. love it, love it, love it. I'll be breaking the camera out tonight. :-D
ReplyDeleteLove. Love. Love. LOVE! <3
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I discovered your blog late in the project--yay for BUST's website for pointing me to it!--and I have to say that I have THOROUGHLY enjoyed reading everything you've had to say. I'll probably go back and read comments now that I've made my way through the individual posts. I think what you're doing, especially in continuing on from the project, is fabulous. Kudos! I think you're going places. :)

These people are so so so awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis is so so clever, I love all of these, thank you for creating this initiative, I wish you the best of luck in being heard, and as power is in numbers, I'll create a submission this weekend, <3
ReplyDeleteThank you! This blog is genius, Rxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I encountered your blog in a recommendation from my library, and was instantly sucked in. Literally, I have been sitting at my desk for a little over an hour reading your posts. Thanks for giving me something mildly productive to do on a summer afternoon filled with boredom. And have no fear--you've done more than amuse me! Your posts are stimulating, thoughtful, and well-constructed! It's so refreshing to hear well-reasoned social commentary coming from the teen age group, regarding the teen age group, and not from the conservative Christian sources I'm used to. It sounds like you're on a good path for success and a strong intellectual life-enjoy college! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Taking the time and effort to put something like this together really is exemplary!
ReplyDeleteI've only caught the tail end of the 'project' but I love reading. Keep it up! BTW I'm writing from Australia
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love these! What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI recently was told curly hair was out, so I love this because I love my curly hair and I embrace it everyday!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of magazines out there that are acting as an outlet for teens concerned that the mainstream media does not accurately reflect them or their interests.
ReplyDeleteTeen Voices is a magazine written by and for teen girls that knows teens worry about things "beyond looking pretty and getting boys to like them." They have features on college, sex trafficking, and colorism (to name just a few). [www.teenvoices.com] Teen girls can even submit their work for possible publication!
looks like i've found this blog a bit late, but just wanted to let you this post gave me goosebumps! i'm normally a bit allergic to what can easily become cheesy shows of self affirmation, but these pictures are genuinely uplifting, and i'm grateful every time i see someone vocalising my (admittedly more half assed and less eloquent)thoughts. big love to you from the uk!
ReplyDeleteIs it too late to send a picture?
